Shailja Kejriwal is an Indian media and entertainment professional, film producer, and writer. She is best known for producing short films and writing the script of the Bollywood film Madaari. She also started the controversial TV channel Zindagi that exclusively broadcasts Pakistani serials in India. Movie CareerAfter working with large media organizations like Star and NDTV, Shailja joined Zee Entertainment. As a part of Zee, she aims at bringing socially relevant stories to the public through films and TV shows. In 2016, as Chief Creative- Special Projects at Zee Entertainment Enterprise Ltd, she worked on numerous ventures, the first being a Pakistani short film titled Laloolal.com. The movie is about a Pakistani man who goes out of his way to help people, which adversely affects his personal relationships. After producing the Urdu short films Lala Begum and Chotay Shah, she began to work on the short film Guddu Engineer, a Hindi romantic drama. Shailja then began producing the 1-hour comedy thriller Jeewan Hathi, a Pakistani film starring Naseeruddin Shah. Jeewan Hathi is about a channel owner who rigs a reality show in order to get ratings up. Her most notable venture came with the social-thriller Madaari (2016). Shailja produced and wrote the story for this thought-provoking film, which was directed by Nishikant Kamat. The film revolves around a common man, played by Irrfan Khan, who seeks justice for his son, a victim of political apathy.
